Puppies, Leather, and a Whole Lot of Tail Wags: Our New Dog Collar & Leash Workshop at De Bloo Studio

Okay, we have to talk about how much fun our first Dog Collar & Leash Workshop was here at De Bloo Studio on Sukhumvit 29. We knew it would be good, but we didn't expect the whole room to turn into a puppy party. Some students brought their dogs along, and honestly, our instructors got just as distracted as everyone else every time a new furry face walked through the door. Big dogs, tiny dogs, fluffy ones, wiggly ones. We loved them all!
Here's how the class actually goes, in case you're curious (or already planning to bring your own dog next time).
You start by picking your leather. We offer classic black or a warm brown Buttero leather, both full-grain and genuinely nice to work with. Then you decide on the length for your collar based on your dog's size. If you pick to do leash workshop or you booked for both, you get to choose the leash strap color too!
From there, it's time to punch. You'll mark and punch the adjustment holes for the buckle, then use a traditional French-style pricking iron to punch your stitching holes. This is usually the part new students worry about most, but don't stress — our instructors walk you through every step, and you really don't need any leathercraft experience to join.
Next comes the edge finishing, which is honestly one of the most satisfying parts of the whole process. You pick a paint color for the edges, apply it, then smooth everything out with a heated iron until you get that clean, glossy, professional finish leather goods are known for.
Once your piece is painted and smoothed, you'll assemble the collar using saddle stitching, the same hand-stitching technique used in traditional leather ateliers for durability and a really polished look.
And then, the best part: hot stamping. You get to personalize the collar with your pup's name, so it's not just handmade, it's made for your dog specifically.
Of course, no workshop is complete without a proper photo shoot of your pup wearing their new collar. We had so many good photos and these two are one of the cutest!
